How to Export Your Flo Data, Delete Your Account, and Switch to a Private Period Tracker (2026 Guide)
Whether you're switching because of the $59.5 million settlement or simply want better privacy, this guide walks you through exporting your Flo history, deleting your account correctly, requesting full server deletion, and importing your data into a private alternative — in under 10 minutes total.
Deleting the Flo app from your phone does not delete your data from Flo's servers. Flo retains your data for up to three years after account closure unless you send a specific deletion request. Follow all steps in this guide to ensure your data is actually removed.
Millions of women are reconsidering their period tracking apps following the Flo Health data scandal and the $59.5 million settlement involving Google, Flo, and Flurry. The good news: you do not have to lose your cycle history when you switch. Flo allows you to export your data, and CycleVault can import it directly.
Before You Start: The Order Matters
Do these steps in this exact order. If you delete your account first, you lose the ability to export your data.
- Step 1: Export your data from Flo
- Step 2: Import it into CycleVault
- Step 3: Delete your Flo account
- Step 4: Cancel your Flo Premium subscription
- Step 5: Send a server deletion request by email
Step 1: Export Your Flo Data
Flo exports your data as a file containing your cycle dates, symptoms, pregnancy data, and other health entries. The export process requires contacting Flo's support team — it is not available as a self-service button in the app.
Open the Flo app and go to Help
Make sure you are logged into the account you want to export. Tap your avatar or the menu icon at the top left. Tap Help from the menu.
Tap Contact Us and request your export
Scroll to the bottom of the Help screen and tap Contact us. In the description field, paste this exact request:
"I would like to request a complete export of all my personal health data, including cycle dates, symptoms, and any other stored information. This is a GDPR/CCPA data access request."
Citing GDPR or CCPA legally obligates Flo to respond within 30 days. Most users receive their export link within 24–48 hours.
Download your export file
Flo will email you a download link. Save the file — it is typically named something like flo_data_export_[date].json. You will need it for the next step. Keep it safe and do not share it.
Included: Period start and end dates, logged symptoms, mood entries, flow intensity, notes, ovulation and fertile window predictions.
Not included: Flo's AI-generated health insights or article content — those are Flo's own content, not your personal data.
Step 2: Import Your History Into CycleVault
Once you have your Flo export file, importing it into CycleVault takes under 60 seconds.
Open CycleVault in your browser
Go to cyclevault.app. No account or sign-up is needed.
Go to Settings → Import from Flo
Tap the Settings icon in the bottom navigation bar. Scroll to the Your Data section. Tap Import from Flo.
Upload your file and confirm
Tap Choose File and select the Flo JSON file you downloaded. CycleVault reads it and shows a preview: "Found X cycles, Y months of data." Tap Import.
Your complete cycle history populates the calendar immediately. Everything is stored locally in your browser — Flo is no longer involved.
Imports: All period start and end dates, logged symptoms and their dates, mood entries, flow intensity logs, notes you wrote.
Does not import: Flo's AI predictions and article bookmarks — these are Flo-specific content. CycleVault generates new predictions from your imported cycle history.
Step 3: Delete Your Flo Account
Deleting your Flo account removes your data from their active systems — but only if done correctly. Deleting the app is not enough.
Delete From Inside the App
Tap your avatar → Privacy Settings
Open Flo. Tap your avatar or menu icon. Tap Privacy Settings from the options.
Tap Delete Account and confirm
Scroll to Delete Account and tap it. Flo will ask you to confirm by entering your password. Once confirmed, your account is queued for deletion.
Also Send a Deletion Request by Email
Deleting your account in the app starts the process — but Flo may retain some data for legal reasons unless you formally invoke your rights. Send this email to make it legally binding:
I am writing to request the permanent deletion of all personal data associated with my account, including any data shared with third parties such as Google, Meta, Flurry, AppsFlyer, and any analytics or advertising partners.
This is a formal data deletion request under GDPR Article 17 (right to erasure) and CCPA Section 1798.105 (right to delete).
Please confirm in writing: (1) complete deletion of my data from your servers, (2) notification sent to any third parties to delete my data, and (3) a confirmation email once full deletion is complete.
My account email address: [your email here]
Thank you.
Why this email matters: Flo's privacy policy states they retain data for up to three years after account closure "for legal and business reasons" unless you make a specific deletion request. Sending this email formally invokes your legal right and obligates them to comply within 30 days (GDPR/EU) or 45 days (CCPA/California).
Step 4: Cancel Your Flo Premium Subscription
Deleting your account does not automatically cancel your billing. You must cancel separately depending on how you originally subscribed.
If You Subscribed Through the App Store (iPhone)
Open iPhone Settings
Tap your name at the top to access Apple ID settings.
Tap Subscriptions
Find Flo Premium in the list of active subscriptions. Tap it.
Tap Cancel Subscription
Confirm the cancellation. You retain access until the end of the current billing period.
If You Subscribed Through Google Play (Android)
Open Google Play Store
Tap your profile icon in the top right corner.
Go to Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions
Find Flo Premium in the list.
Tap Cancel subscription
Decline any retention offers and confirm cancellation.
If You Subscribed via the Flo Website
Email support@flo.health stating that you want to cancel your subscription immediately. Include your account email. By law they must process this request.
Several users report being charged after believing they cancelled. After following the steps above, check your bank or credit card statement the following month to confirm billing has stopped. If you see an unexpected charge, contact your bank for a chargeback and email Flo with documentation.
What Happens to Your Data After Deletion
Once you delete your account and send the deletion request email, Flo is legally required to:
- Delete your data from their servers within 30 days (GDPR) or 45 days (CCPA)
- Notify any third parties — analytics partners, advertisers — to delete your data
- Send you a written confirmation once deletion is complete
Data that was already shared with Google, Meta, or Flurry before 2019 is subject to the class action settlement. You can file a claim at periodtrackerdataprivacylitigation.com once the form opens.
After completing these steps, your cycle history is in CycleVault — in your browser, on your device only. Flo has no copy. No advertiser has access to it. You can verify this at any time in DevTools: open the Network tab, log a symptom, and watch the tab stay completely empty.
If you ever want to move apps again, CycleVault's one-click export means your data is always portable and always yours.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the Flo data export take?
Most users receive their export link within 24–48 hours of contacting support. If you cite GDPR or CCPA in your request, Flo is legally required to respond within 30 days. Follow up if you do not hear back within 3 business days.
Will I lose my Flo data if I delete the app before exporting?
Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your data from Flo's servers — so it is technically still retrievable. However, once you delete your account in the app, you lose the ability to request an export through normal channels. Always export first, then delete your account.
Can I get a refund on my Flo Premium subscription?
If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, contact Apple or Google respectively — they handle billing for those purchases. For direct Flo website subscriptions, contact support@flo.health. Refund policies vary; you are more likely to receive a pro-rated refund than a full one, but it is worth requesting.
Does CycleVault import from Clue as well?
Yes. Clue also allows data export, and CycleVault's import feature supports Clue's export format. The process is identical: export from Clue, open CycleVault, go to Settings → Import, and upload the file.
What if Flo doesn't respond to my deletion request?
If you are in the EU or UK and do not receive a response within 30 days, you can file a complaint with your national data protection authority — the ICO in the UK, or your local DPA in the EU. If you are in California and do not hear back within 45 days, you can file a complaint with the California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA). Include your email trail as documentation.
